There is no doubt in my mind that those amoungst you who are aware of how Google works and getting your website to the top of the search engines will agree with me when I say that free backlinks are key in getting high rankings. Of course if they don’t cost anything then everyone loves that!.

For those of you new to websites and SEO then a backlink is when all’s said and done another link from another website that points to your website, sometimes they are called inbound links. Basically if you post an article and there is a link in it to your site, that is a backlink! Seems simple enough right? Another example is if you asked someone to put a link on their site to yours.

It is within reach of most people to attain these backlinks but it will serve you better if you get your linking from other site with content similar to yours. An example would be if you site is about making dolls, get links from other making dolls sites, because search engines love meaningful content. So every incoming link that comes from a similar site is worth more than one that comes from just any old website. Relevant backlinks will be way more effective for your ranking.

Assuming that you will put in the work required you can achieve high rankings for most key words, visibly there are some key phrases with already too many websites competing for them but there are plenty that you can rank well for. It seems to be a case of who can get the most backlinks, so if you want to outrank someone elses website, make more backlinks then they have and given that your content is relevant to your chosen keyword, it’s probable you would beat them.

So its not rocket science. What you must remember is you must be regular, Google more than ever likes to see links regularly appearing to your website, Google will love your site and so will give you better exposure. If you make a few links and then discontinue Google may get sad and loose interest in your website and that must not happen!

It sucks getting other sites to link to you and it can also be tiresome submitting articles manually, I’ve done this before so I know! What would be really good is if we had a tool that would cut down the work for us and allow us to spend more time on our business whilst our links were being built for us.. What would be great is if we didn’t have to do anything! and it was all done for us on auto-pilot
