Creating A Successful Blog

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

It is almost a necessity for an online business owner to have a blog these days. There are all types of blogs out there: informative blogs, personal blogs, and marketing jobs, to name a few. Now businesses have to compete using these blogs to receive a higher ranking in the search engines.

In order to have a successful blog, you will need to insure that it is well-written. You will also have to check to make sure it is designed well and that you can update it frequently and regularly. You need to take the time to research and know your audience before you start so you can be sure to target them appropriately.

But what if you are not trying to start a blog for business purposes? How can you create a blog that is successful if you just want to have a blog? There are some tips you can apply to help insure that your blog will do well.

First of all, select your topic. Since you aren’t using your blog for marketing your product, you can write about anything that appeals to you. You can use a blog as your own personal online journal or you can use it as your forum to comment on the news. Just be sure to choose something you are passionate about, something that you know well, and something that will allow you a chance to show the world the real you with all your talents, knowledge, and ideas.

Secondly, write your blog as if you were conversing with a friend. Make your writing conversational and free from a lot of technical jargon, unless you are directing it only towards a very specific readership. Post frequently because having more content on your blog will help more people to find it through search engines.

Use your blog to get your opinions out to the world. You are not moderated and you are free to express yourself in whatever way you choose. However, do not use your blog to insult people or try to damage businesses or organizations.

Be wise in the decisions you make regarding your blog usage. Remember that you are influencing people’s views and they will be evaluating your credibility. If you are offensive, you may lose readership.

Finally, take time to promote your blog. Don’t be afraid to keep the URL for your blog in the signature line of your emails. You never know when an email might cross the path of someone who might be interested in what you have to say.

If you publish a newsletter, be sure to promote it there as well. Finally, you can join blog directories and post the link there or join forums related to your topic and share your link with others.

If you do consider using a blog for business purposes, realize that it needs frequent updating and good, solid content. Some people consider paying someone to maintain the content aspect of the blog once it has been created.

Many people make extra money serving as content writers and prove to be beneficial to blog owners.

Guide To Writing A Fantastic Blog

Guide to writing a fantastic blog

Before reading I want to share with you a new resource for looking for a House Share that you will find interesting.

This article explains a few things about blogging, and if you’re interested, then this is worth reading, because you can never tell what you don’t know.

It seems like new information is discovered about something every day. And the topic of blogging is no exception. Keep reading to get more fresh news about blogging.

There’s a lot of blogs out there on the Web, most of which don’t entice one to go back regularly to read updates. What is missing from these on-line journals that would essentially make them ‘good’ blogs? Well, the answers in life usually come down to simplicities. So let’s look at the problem like we were children. Children don’t complicate life with miscellaneous information, and when they speak they tell you straight to the point exactly how they feel and think about a subject.

First of all, we should ask the questions,” Why do blogs exist? And what are they here for?” Well, in an ideal world ‘good’ blogs would help people connect, sharing knowledge and feelings about issues in life. As they are journals written by individuals we would hope that they’d be readable and open to comment by all other people, not just a select group of friends. The key is speaking in a way that is understandable by the masses, get rid of acronyms and local slang that only few will comprehend. Keep the sentences grammatically simple and generally short and concise. Try to write in your blog as often as possible because if people enjoy reading your thoughts and ideas they’ll want to communicate or at least be filled in regularly on ‘your world’. Ask questions, comment on other blogs of similar content, start communities with others you’ve never met, based on your interests. Keep focused; if your blog is about thoughts on war and peace, keep your thoughts on the latest movie and how hungry you are for somewhere else.

(Just a gentle reminder for you to visit the new House Share site if you want to find a room for free )

The idea is to incite intelligent communication so that in time our collective stockpile of knowledge and wisdom will gradually grow like a tree in fertile soil. I think of most importance is the fact that you want this journal to be ‘good’ reading. Of course we all have ideas about what genres and styles we like, but writing from your heart and soul is imperative for the connection with others that you’re looking for. Share yourself; don’t hide behind walls of fear of ridicule and judgment. In real life relationships trust, respect, intimacy, and unity are all necessary for a bond to form. It’s the same in the ‘virtual’ world; people want to hear from real people-not just one-sided, highly opinionated arguments from egos that don’t want to hear the ‘other side of the coin’. Now, in my last article I really tore apart most writers out there, and here I’m giving some pretty complex ideas on how to fix the problem of ‘bad’ writing. In my next article I’ll attempt to go back to the simple basics of how to write for beginners. I hope I haven’t come across as too judgmental, I just truly believe the ‘blog world’ could become a real asset to humanity, and at the moment it’s missing the mark.

Ideas about sentence structure, grammar, paragraphing, using a thesaurus (varying terms used so as not to sound repetitive), whether or not your blog is suitable for a personal or professional approach, are all important to creating a simple and enjoyable read for the blogging visitor. If you are a beginner, please check out my next article on the basics.

Now you can be a confident expert on blogging. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on blogging.

Again just in case you havent yet go to the House Share site if you are a landlord or tenant and you wont regret it.
Hope you have enjoyed reading this post!

What I Do Not Understand Concerning Part Time Blogging

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

How many people are part time bloggers? I read somewhere that someplace in the world a new blog is started every second.

Do we really have any idea how many blog posts are made every day?

I think there is probably conflicting statistics about blogging anyway. However there is one thing that I really do not understand and that is why do people start blogs and abandon them so quickly?

There certainly is a trend towards social networking today. Twitter for example is micro blogging.

These are short blog posts of 140 characters or less known as tweets. You can’t do a lot with them yet there was so much action when Michael Jackson died it brought the Twitter system down.

Facebook has millions of members and is an exceptionally active social networking site. It almost becomes the focal point of some people’s lives because they take it too seriously.

Back to the question about blogging however and that is why are blogs started and quit so quickly? One possible answer is not every person is on the computer all the time. It does take a little bit of effort to login to your blog and post an article of a couple hundred words.

Some people start a blog with the idea that they are going to turn it into an online. They really want to make money online and blogging seems like a good way to do it.

When they find out how much work marketing a blog is they decide to stop.

Some people are busy! They may not even be aware that they can hire a blog writer to write content for their blogs. They also may not be aware of how to keep their blog up to date with various content feeds.

Certainly if you are going to start a blog you need to take the time to keep adding fresh content to it. This is especially true if you’re trying to make money with your blog. Search engines love fresh content and so do your readers.

I know when some people look at how good their competitors blogs are it discourages them. There are so many social media tools available now to make a blog really thrilling you need to step up and use some of them if you want to be noticed.

Certainly videos add a lot to a blog. Many bloggers are not informed they can go to You Tube and use the videos there on their own blog. They think they need to create videos of their own and that definitely seems like a lot of work so they do not even try.

So for whatever reason people start and stop blogs and this has happened right now as I have been writing this article. Hopefully you will stay loyal to your blog and get out of it what you started it for.
