Stop Worrying About Backlinks

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

This article brought to you by the webmaster of make money free and website marketing.

This is one aspect of being a webmaster that took me quite a while to get over. Every day I would spend an hour or two running my sites and blogs through backlink checkers and other tools when I could have spent that time searching the web trying to find my next PR 6 + backlink which is much better than 1000 low authority backlinks. I guess the title is a bit misleading since as a webmaster or blogger you will of course be worried about backlinks, but if you spend any amount of time over just a minute or two daily or every other day then you are wasting precious marketing time. I frequently search out the next great backlink, but much more regularly I spend working on my web presence making it the best it can possibly be so rather than having to search for backlinks and build them by hand I turn my website into link bait which is where I do not have to build links my web presence presents enough quality to attract links without me doing anything.

Now backlinks are the driving force behind the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) and should be thought about as you develop and implement an internet marketing plan. They of course should not be the only aspect thought about, but should be considered important when constructing a plan. Really though rather than worrying about the number of backlinks your website or blog has you should be worrying about the quality, authority, and relevance of backlinks you are building. I have found if I spend a few hours on a very high quality backlinks it will give me the same result as spending a full day or two on constructing hundreds upon hundreds of ok or crappy links. So when you begin building links to a website begin contacting other webmasters which may find your website useful and let them know about you and your website and know that at least you think that their visitors could benefit from them providing your link. You should of course be tactical about the way you ask if you sound even a bit like a spammer and insincere then they will probably delete your email before finishing it.

I spoke earlier about not spending all of your time worrying about backlinks and do not do like I did spending an hour or more daily doing checks. So what should you be doing with the time most spend checking the progress of their web presences. Well there are several productive ways which you can be spending your time the first is reading what the experts in your niche are saying. I have found staying on top of any breaking news in my niche very beneficial especially when I relay the information to my visitors. The second thing you can be doing is making connections with other webmasters in your niche. Spend time on social media websites seeking out beneficial relationships and begin cross promotion. Anyway just a couple things which in my time online has provided much more than worrying about backlinks and position.

Backlinks Importance In Seo

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

If you have considered Search Engine Optimization, you would have come across the sound “back link” almost once. For those who are new to SEO, you might be wondering what back link is, and why it is so important. Backlinks has now become very essential to the scope of Search Engine Optimization they have become the main building blocks to SEO.

What do you mean by “backlinks”? Backlinks are the links, which are directed towards your web site, which is also known as inbound links. The count of backlinks is a sign of popularity or significance of that web site. Backlinks are chief for SEO as some search engines, particularly Google, will provide more credit to web sites, which have quality backlinks, consider those web sites more important than others in everything their results pages for search query.

While search engines compute the relevance of the site to a particular keyword, they think of the quality number of inbound links to that website. So we must not be pleased with simply getting inbound links, it is a quality of inbound link, which matters.

A search engine thinks that content of the websites to decide the quality of inbound link. When an inbound links to your website come from few other sites, and those websites have content linked to your website, these links are measured to be more relevant to your website. If links are found on websites with dissimilar content, they are considered less relevant. Higher the relevance of the inbound links, greater will be their quality.

For instance, if webmaster has a site about how to free orphaned kittens, and have received a backlinks from another site about kittens, that will be more relevant in search engine’s evaluation than a link from the website on the subject of car racing.

Search engines would like websites to have the level playing field, also look for normal links built gradually over time. While it is quite easy to influence links on web page to achieve higher ranking, it is harder to influence search engine with the external backlinks from some other websites. This is as well a reason why the backlinks feature is high in search engine’s algorithm. Recently, however, search engine’s principle for quality links has gotten tougher, thanks to the unscrupulous webmasters that are trying to achieve these links by deceptive or else sneaky methods, like with hidden links, or mechanically generated web pages whose only purpose is to give inbound links to sites. These web pages are called link farms, they are not only unnoticed by the search engines, but also linking to a link farm, which can buy your website banned entirely.

Another reason to purchase quality backlinks is to attract visitors to come to your site. You cannot build a site, and then wait for that people will discover your website not pointing the way. You will most likely need to get the term out there about your website. One-way webmasters got a word out can be used through reciprocal linking.

7 Fundamental Tips For SEO

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Learning about SEO and gaining your websites organic rankings and traffic is among the best of the easy ways to make money I know. Running the gamut the painfully apparent to the “Hey, that’s pretty cool!” type killer inspiration, here’re 7 of the top 25 tips on how to format your site for optimal visibility, rankability and, incidentally, profitability.

Distribute an RSS feed. Short for “Really Simple Syndication,” feeds come built in to Wordpress installations (which you ought to be using anyway) and it’s uncomplicated and free to submit them to feed distribution sites. These sites circulate your syndicated content, which gains you both traffic and backlinks. Run a Google search for “RSS feed submit” and you’ll have more results than you can shake a stick at.

Consider anchor text wisely. Variety is the spice of life - the last thing you want is your link building campaigns to appear artificial, because the search engines frown heavily on that. Switch things up regularly, whether it’s your company name, URL or variations of your keywords. A 60-30-10% ratio is ideal, where 60 is your main set of keywords and 30 and 10 and less critical variations.

Multiple domains. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket, after all. If you have a couple of topics that can each warrant their own website, it could be worth running having multiple domains. Why? First, search engines for the most part list only one page per domain for any given query, and you might warrant two. Second, directories usually accept only home pages, so you can get more directory listings this way.

Article exchanges are one of the quickest routes to easy online money known to man. You may have heard of link exchanges, pointless as they generally are. Article exchanges are like link exchanges, only much more useful. As a publisher, you use someone else’s article (including their backlink) and get free content. As an advertiser, you offer articles to directories for other people to publish (including your backlink.)

Make use of bolding and other HTML tags. Your primary keyword should be in h1 tags at the top of the page, as well as inside of h2 tags once or twice throughout. This goes for the “b” tag too. Don’t, however, use them everywhere the keyword appears — once or twice is plenty.

Create a site map. A large site requires a site map, which should be linked to from every page on the site. This ensures that every page on your website is no more than two clicks from any other page at any given time, which is search engine gravy. It’s also valuable to generate an XML sitemap to submit to major search engines.

Interlink the pages of your site. Also known as “deeplinking,” this goes back to what I said about building a sitemap. Deeplinking includes linking to the obscure pages of your site, from within your site, as well as with inbound links from other sites. This tells the search engine that you have lots of valuable material.

There you have it: 7 of the 25 Top SEO tips. There is certainly a bit more to SEO than this, but with these tips alone should help any website significantly increase its rankings and consequentially boost your internet business income.

How To Get Your Back Links Counted

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Alright, so you’ve had your timer set up so you know that you have spent the best part of an hour writing and making your carefully made piece of literary brilliance. So, the first step is to always submit your article, due to a number of simple reasons it makes a sensible first port of call.

For example, if you key “allen jesson” into Google, you will see, that at the time of writing, I am listed around 18,100 times (Results 1 - 10 of about 18,100 for “allen jesson”). So, 18.1K pages have a mention of yours truly. But what you will find very interesting is that the number 1 spot belongs to my author page on a certain article directory. That’s how much Google loves this article directory! These sites even outrank those websites that I own! So, I think I have made my case for submitting your article. For top seo services, it’s a sensible move. Google will more than likely pick up the article and your link that is shown in the author’s resource box will be counted as a bona fide back link to your site. You will also get visitors direct from that link on the article web site and you will also get visitors and web traffic when your article is published on other people’s sites and blogs (you can see how many times that happens in the member’s area).

But what about the all important back links? Will they get counted again when they are published on other people’s sites? Well the good news is that you will get more visitors and more exposure. The only disadvantage to this is that it is accepted wisdom that Google will see that secondary publication as ‘duplicate’ content and will only give proper and true value value to the link it first found from that article, namely the one published on the first article directory.

But there are things you can do. For example, there are other article directories out there. In my humble opinion, if you are trying to build counted back links, there is a little value in resubmitting the same article to a number of the other article directories. Of course, you will get visitors from those people who see your article on those other article directories (and other sites that publish your article as a result being seen on those article directories) BUT you wont get any more back links counted. So, what should you do in this situation?

Well, there is a fairly simple answer to your dilemma. Look, you’ve done the hard work, writing your original article. Then you have come up with a great idea, which is the basic theme for your article. So, now all you need to is to rearrange your thought patterns a little and rewrite your article and come up with another completely new article. Don’t submit that rewritten article to the same place, submit it elsewhere. Then keep rewriting and submitting elsewhere. By the time you have 6 rewritten articles, then you probably have a new article, with new ideas and themes, one which could be resubmitted to your original directory, so therefore starting the whole process again.

Of course, there are other ways that are much quicker when it comes to this problem and certainly there are methods are part of what we teach but if you use the above strategy you will start to see your back links in Google steadily climb and then everything else will follow, even the most coveted prize, which is the number 1 spot in Google.

The Two Most Important Factors To Increase Page Rank

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

The Google Page Rank Algorithm is complex. Arguable there’s no ‘one person’ that fully understands it simply because the nature of it feeds off so many sources within Google that it’s truly becoming a robot that thinks for itself. To increase pagerank (PR) on a website, you will need to understand the main idea behind the page rank concept.

You can think of the Google Page Rank as being like the Billboard music chart. This chart is simply a ranking that shows which song or album is most popular. The popularity is determined by the one thing that makes it the most important which is sales in the case of music.

With websites the concept is the same, but determining what makes a site the most important is slightly more complex. There’s no one single factor that determines that. With the Google Page Rank system it basically combines a series of related factors into a rank. This rank then determines which site is more important and consequently which site will rank higher on Google “chart” for that specific search term.

Although the Google Page Rank Algorithm is complex your work as a website owner or SEO expert is much simpler. Page rank boils down to backlinks. Backlinks is the easiest and most reliable way for Google to determine which site is more important. The common (and sometimes twisted) Google logic is that if other people think you are important enough to link to, then you must be important.

If you want to increase PR, then you simply have to start focusing your efforts on building backlinks to your site. The 2 most important factors to increase your page rank is this:

1. Get High PR Sites To Link To You
So, a high PR is an indication that you are important. If an important site with a high PR links to you, then Google recognizes this. Getting high PR backlinks is the most important factor in increasing PR. It becomes even more valuable if the high PR site linking back to you is an authority site in your niche or if it is highly relevant to your site. This is where the Google Page Rank Algorithm gets complicated, but don’t worry to much about that. A high PR link is worth gold regardless.

2. Getting a Large Volume Of Backlinks
Since getting quality back links from important sites with a high PR is so difficult, most of the time we are forced into building a large volume of links from sites with a lower pagerank. Obviously Google also recognizes this and assign a much lower value to these links. Although you need a lot more low PR links to increase page rank, they are still necessary and valuable. The danger of getting a lot of links from low PR pages is that it can easily be picked up as spam links. Be careful. Especially with new sites. You want to build up quantity links, but you need to do it slowly over time.

There’s a lot of other factors that many SEO experts claim to have a positive impact on your pagerank. Some of them like getting links from “.edu” sites might have some value, but for the most part focusing on quality and quantity links will get you the best results. It’s always wise to build both quality and quantity links. As a rule of thumb, you can split your link building efforts 60/40 with 60% of your time focused on quality links and 40% on building quantity links.
