Probably the greatest feature about Wordpress is the fact that so many people have created themes for it. A theme is a series of files that creates how the blog will look.
Take a look at the list of free themes that wordpress.org has compiled. They have a whopping 682 themes available for free download!
These themes are great when you create your first blog. They allow you to set up quickly and easily and have a blog with a quality design in moment. All you do is download a zip file, unzip it, upload the files to wordpress, click on the “appearance” link of your wordpress dashboard, and select the theme you installed to active.
What you will quickly find with free themes is that although they serve their purpose well for those new bloggers and those setting up a new blog, they are also very overused and very cliche. I have found myself exiting blogs just because I am sick of seeing the design.
When I have hundreds of thousands of blogs to chose from, I refuse to read one on which I hate the design. So how do you avoid getting a cliche looking website? Or how do you avoid downloading an overused theme? There are basically two options.
First is you can get a paid theme. There are many benefits to a paid theme over a free one. Some of these features include installation support, customization support, and adding custom logos. Also you don’t run into the same web design over and over again. The last and greatest feature is what I call professional customizations.
What are professional customizations? Well if you look at Agent theme, which is a real estate theme, you can see in the demo they provide that they have included a custom rotating “featured content” feature. These are features you will not likely find in free themes.
Every theme and every company offers something unique. However in my opinion if you want something that is search engine friendly, customizable, and very unique, no one can do a better job then the pages offered by StudioPress. I personally recommend the following themes: Chrome, Church (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR PROFESSIONAL BLOGGING), and Metro. They also offer a deal on all their themes that is really good. The last option is for those who have a bit of craving to design for themes but don’t know all the HTML lingo. This is actually my highest recommendation if you can afford it. It is not required for professional blogging, but will certainly make your designs MUCH more original.

I can guarantee you if you use it you will get comments on your blogs like “great design” or “love the layout”. I have never seen any design get better reviews then the designs created by this software! Check them out!!
